Course Description

Expand your sewing skills by learning couture sewing techniques as seen in haute couture garments, from hand-stitched zippers to bound buttonholes. Attend a 9 week course for sewers/dressmakers who wish to expand their sewing skills, with women’s wear designer Coral Turner of Coral Turner Couture. Previous sewing skills are essential; the classes are small in number due to the intensity of the work involved. NO SESSIONS ON 7th APRIL, 14TH APRIL & 5TH MAY due to half term and bank holiday. Each week there will be demonstration and practice where you will learn ‘behind the seams’ couture industry sewing techniques. By the end of the course you will have covered as follows:-  Paper patterns their instructions how to read, plus how to take measurements for your body  Pressing techniques and equipment  Seam finishes  Darts  Hems  Zippers  Bound buttonholes The ability to use a sewing machine and to have experience/knowledge is essential for this class.
