Course Description

Sewing is an essential life skill, and this course teaches those basics, whilst also instilling the importance of repairing and reusing for environmental and budgeting reasons. In order to get the most from this course, you must attend all sessions and it is essential you attend the first session. If you are unable to attend the first session please let us know asap, so your place can be allocated to someone else: please email: Georgia@gcda.org.uk. We will do our best to find you a place on another Sewing course at another time. By the end of the course you'll be able to: Describe and list sewing machine basics; what should be in a sewing kit? Learn how to use a machine and make a simple pin cushion Sew a patchwork cushion cover using a simple envelope technique   Describe pattern basics; learn how to ‘read’ a pattern – start work on pinning and cutting out a simple bag  Demonstrate simple hand-finishing techniques   Sew buttons, hems and other minor mends and alterations  Please note, this course is funded for London residents only.
